The Docs
Start out with the Sponge docs. This is an
interesting place to visit,
lots of history see. They have
the best Greek food you'll ever find! There are museums and tours to
enjoy. You can go out and see how the early settlers in the Tarpon area
use to go out in the gulf and harvest sponges. Nearly every store sells
sponges and soaps.
Parking is easy, some places charge some money but you can look around
and find a place for nothing or just a $1.00. Make sure you walk around
the back streets. There's lots to see and if you don't walk around
you'll miss things. There are boat tours that show how people how they
used to harvest sponges in the gulf. The boat tours last about 2
hours. When you go the docs go hungry. There are so many restaurants
there and you’ll love the Greek food. My wife and I have enjoyed eating at many little
restaurants there and haven't been disappointed.
